Every hook failure is a pot out of the water.

Door hooks die two deaths. They snap at the points from being forced flat under a stack of pots all winter, and they crack at the cinch where a sharp inside corner concentrates every flex into one line. Either way, you're standing at the rail replacing hooks when you should be running the line. We designed this hook to take both failures off the table.

Sized for a commercial pot. 4-1/4" overall, 3-1/2" cinch center to hook center. That second number is the one that matters, because center to center is where the wire actually sits and it is what decides whether a hook fits. We cut it for a working commercial pot, not a recreational trap. We also print it, which as far as we can find nobody else does. Everybody else lists an overall length between 3-1/8" and 3-3/4" and leaves you to work out the span.

Heavy section, not a thin stamping. This is a hefty hook in the same class as the thick orange hooks the fleet already trusts, molded in impact-resistant polypropylene with the material left where the load actually goes. It's plastic; it will eventually break. The point is making that later, not sooner.

Flat Stack Relief Points. Machined-in reliefs at the points let the hook lay flatter than anything else on the market, and do it without binding on the wire. Stack pots on top all season and the leverage that snaps ordinary hooks at the points has a lot less to work with. Fewer snapped hooks in March; that's the whole design.

Stress-relieved cinch. A radiused hole at the base of the cinch spreads the flex instead of piling it onto a straight edge. That corner is where the rest of the industry's hooks crack. Ours bends and comes back.

No bind, no hesitation. The slim profile lets pots push straight over the hook without hanging up, easy on the hooks, easy on your rhythm when you're stacking in a hurry.

Full material at the bungee loop. We left the meat where the load lives, at the bottom of the loop, so it wears out last, not first.

Built for rubber, runs bungee. The cinch is sized for rubber crab pot bands, which most commercial guys are moving to for longevity, and takes standard bungee cord just as well.

Why blue? So we can find you. Every hook we mold runs the same signature blue. When we're on the water or at the dock, we can spot our hooks on a stack of pots from thirty feet, and that tells us who's running them and how they're holding up. It works the other way too. That blue on your pots says you're running gear designed and molded in Maryland by a shop trying to make this work easier, not another sack of imports off a container. Questions builders ask

How many hooks do I need per pot?
Most commercial pots run two on the harvest door. A box of 500 rigs 250 pots; 10,000 rigs 5,000.

Will it fit my pot?
Measure center of the band anchor wire to center of the door catch wire on your pot, door closed. If that's about 3-1/2", yes. How to measure it. If you run a shorter span, tell us; we cut our own tooling.

Rubber bands or bungee?
Either. The cinch is cut for flat rubber bands and takes standard bungee cord as-is. Rigging guide.

How does it compare to the thick orange hook?
Same heavy section, longer overall, with relief at the points and a radiused cinch that the orange one doesn't have. Those two features address the two ways hooks break. Why they break.

Is this a retail or a builder product?

Where is it made?
Injection molded at our shop in Baltimore, Maryland, from domestic UV-resistant, impact-resistant polypropylene. Every run is measured before it ships.

Is the blue a special order?
No. Every hook we make is this blue. It's how we track our hooks in the field and how you tell a pot rigged with ours from one that isn't.

Running a smaller trap, or a pot that wants a shorter span? Tell us the center to center you need and we will look at cutting it.
