Cull Works is a new company with an old school approach.
We are a manufacturer in Baltimore, Maryland. Not a brand that sources parts overseas and puts a logo on them. We run CNC machining and injection molding under one roof at 6400 Frankford Ave, and every part we sell is cut or molded in that building.
That matters for one reason. When a waterman shows us a problem, a hook that snaps at the points, a ring that measures undersized, a gauge that wears open halfway through the season, we can design the fix, cut the tool and have parts in hand while an importer is still waiting on a container.
We build what the work demands
Every product here started as somebody's complaint about gear that failed. The cull stick exists because plastic gauges are sold undersized on purpose and wear open from there. The door hook exists because hooks die two deaths, snapped at the points and cracked at the cinch, and both of those are design problems with design answers. We are not guessing at what the fishery needs. We are asking, then building.
The shop
Cull Works is the crabbing gear line of Lorob Bees LLC, the same shop that trades as Hexa Plastics for contract injection molding and toolmaking. We have been building it since 2019, starting with CNC work and growing into an integrated molding and toolmaking operation. The presses, the tool room and the inspection equipment that make production parts for other companies are the same ones making this gear.
So when we say the gauge is held to less than .005" of true, that is not marketing. That is what the shop does all day.
Why the gear is blue
Every part we mold runs the same signature blue. On the water or at the dock we can spot our gear on a stack of pots from thirty feet, and that tells us who is running it and how it is holding up. It works the other way too. That blue on your pots says you are running gear designed and molded in Maryland by a shop trying to make this work easier, not another sack of imports off a container. Watermen notice each other's rigs. Let them ask about the blue.
Tell us what breaks
